Marbella is making significant strides in modernising its technological infrastructure by investing €1.3 million in smart networks and bolstering cybersecurity.
Over the past year, the City Council has championed the cause for these crucial upgrades.
According to Mayor Ángeles Muñoz, this digital transformation has been long anticipated and is essential for meeting the demands of an increasingly interconnected society.
A substantial portion of the budget, €308,000, is dedicated solely to enhancing cybersecurity measures. Muñoz emphasised the necessity of this investment, stating, "Entities and administrations face constant and repeated cyber threats. In our globalised world, maintaining robust security demands considerable effort." She further elaborated on the city's proactive approach, highlighting the integration of advanced tools for surveillance, prevention, detection, analysis, and response.
This includes the installation of electronic perimeter protection equipment and the deployment of resources from the National Cryptologic Centre.
