Direct Train Link from Málaga to Seville

The new direct train line from Málaga to Seville, originally expected to be completed by 2021, is now set to be ready by 2025. This connection will allow the two largest cities in Andalusia to be linked in just 90 minutes, according to the Minister for Transport, Óscar Puente.

Currently, the best train option between Málaga and Seville involves changing at Córdoba, but the new direct route, which will include the Almodóvar viaduct, will offer a more efficient alternative.

This project is part of a broader plan to improve Andalusian railway infrastructure, with hopes of eventually linking Huelva and Almería via major cities. Though some portions of the original project have been delayed or left incomplete, the new route to Seville is progressing.

Málaga and Seville are economic powerhouses, accounting for almost 45 percent of Andalusia's GDP. Improving connectivity between these cities is seen as essential for supporting the region’s growth and development.
