Great Value Holiday Home Options for Golfers on the Costa Del Sol

Fifty years have passed by since the pioneers of overseas holiday home buyers started buying on the Costa del Sol. However, our love affair with the sunny southern Spain still grown strong.

It is widely documented that in 2005, Britons made up to two thirds of all property purchases on the Costa del Sol. During 2007 Brits bought 17,000 homes in Spain. Last year the numbers buying in Spain were back up to 9,200 with the UK still the largest single overseas market, but they have been strongly joined by German, Belgian, Dutch and Scandinavian investors among others, all drawn by the Mediterranean beaches, easy access from across Europe, a safe environment with a strong infrastructure and of course, the golden weather offering 320 days sunshine a year.

With prices on average at least half those in glitzy Puerto Banus, the well-kept town of Estepona is 20 minutes west of Marbella and 15 minutes east of Sotogrande.

Estepona boasts six golf courses, a new inland swimming lagoon, a new district hospital and a popular marina in a beautiful natural coastal setting under the Sierra Bermeja mountains. Its charming Old Town is significantly less developed and less crowded than Marbella’s.

Estepona Golf, a beautiful resort-style golf course positioned in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja, offers some of the most exciting lifestyle and investment opportunities on the coast. Mirador de Estepona Golf, Takara Villas and Green Golf all enjoy front line golf views. Whereas Alcazaba Lagoon located just a stone throw from the course provides an exclusive private community with access to a resident only lagoon, open all year round for all types of water sports.
