Los Monteros Hotel In Marbella To Reopen After Rebrand

After an extensive renovation, Marbella’s legendary Los Monteros hotel is set to reopen, rebranded under the prestigious Kimpton name - part of IHG Hotels & Resorts.

This marks the brand’s first venture into Andalucía. The 195-room five-star hotel will feature a gastronomic experience led by Málaga’s Michelin-starred chef, José Carlos García. Guests will enjoy a variety of dining options, including a restaurant, terrace, lounge bar, pool bar, and the exclusive La Cabane by Dolce & Gabbana beach club, which will be managed by the Mosh Group in collaboration with Málaga-born chef Dani García.

Originally opened in 1962, Los Monteros was one of Spain’s first five-star hotels, a favourite retreat for royalty and global icons like King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofia, Queen Ingrid of Denmark, Michael Jackson, Sean Connery, Antonio Banderas, and Julio Iglesias. It was also home to El Corzo, one of Spain’s first Michelin-starred restaurants, and was the first hotel in Marbella to feature a golf club, tennis courts, and an equestrian centre.

Owned by Bain Capital and Stoneweg Asset Management, the revamped hotel aims to be a flagship destination for luxury hospitality in southern Europe. The transformation preserves the hotel’s rich heritage while creating a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere across its exclusive suites and world-class amenities.

As chef José Carlos García teases: “We are working on something truly unique - something never seen before on the Costa del Sol".
