Plans for an innovative offshore wind farm near the Costa del Sol are moving forward, marking a significant step towards a greener, more sustainable future for the region.
Originally presented to the Ministry for Ecological Transition over a year ago, the project has now progressed through various governmental departments, ministries, and environmental agencies, reflecting strong support and thorough consideration.
This landmark initiative, the largest of its kind proposed for the Málaga coastline, will feature around 67 state-of-the-art wind turbines. Designed to capture the region’s natural resources efficiently, it promises to generate impressive levels of renewable energy, contributing to Spain’s commitment to sustainability. Since its inception, the project has engaged with 47 organisations and administrations, ensuring a well-rounded, environmentally conscious approach.
Located more than 20 kilometres from the Costa del Sol’s picturesque shoreline, the wind farm will span approximately 290 square kilometres of sea. This strategic placement ensures minimal visual impact while maximising energy production.
The Costa del Sol’s offshore wind farm is not just an energy project - it’s a symbol of progress, sustainability, and environmental stewardship, perfectly complementing the region’s appeal as a vibrant, forward-thinking destination.
